Pat's first opened in May of
1975. Founded by the husband and wife team of Ed & Gwynne Ball. They
were deeply involved in beginning the Chicago Retail Hobby Dealers
Association, and later the National Retail Hobby Stores Association,
where Ed served as Chairman for many years. Sadly Ed passed on a few
years ago, he is missed by many.
Gwynne still owns the business, and after all of these years together is family to me. My name is Don Hendrick. I started at Pat's part time in 1978 while in High School, after a tour in the Marine Corps I came back to Pat's full time in 1985. When Gwynne's son Pete moved to Wisconsin in October of 1992 I became the Store Manager. I am a member of the CRHDA and was President, I am now the current VP. I have also served on the NRHSA Board of Directors and as NRHSA President. We have a good bunch of people working at Pat's, if we don't have an answer to your question we will try to find out for you.
